2.9 km from the station and 9 minutes by car.
Many plants that appear in Manyo Poetry are planted in the Manyo Park which is located in the heart of the hot spring district.
The park features Manyo-tei that replicates ancient architecture found in the Manyo period, an inscription of the only Tanka that mentions hot springs in Manyo Poetry and a tombstone of Kunikida Doppo. There is a wonder-working Yugongen Kumano Shrine, which is admired by the local people as a god of hot spring.

This park represents Yugawara, which is the only place where hot spring was mentioned in Manyo Poetry. The reason why this park was chosen is because it has been visited by many writers and artists.

Access Information

Take a bus from JR Yugawara station for Oku-Yugawara/ Fudotaki and get off at "Ochiaibashi". (Approximately 12 minutes by bus)
